House of Šuḫi : ウィキペディア英語版 | House of Šuḫi The House of Šuḫi was a dynasty of rulers of Carchemish. The members of this dynasty are best known to us by Hieroglyphic Luwian sources. Only one member of the house of Šuḫi is exclusively mentioned in Assyrian sources.〔Trevor Bryce: ''The World of the Neo-Hittite Kingdoms: A Political and Military History''. Oxford, New York 2012, p. 89, 93.〕 The House of Šuḫi was followed by a dynasty known as House of Aštiruwa.〔Trevor Bryce: ''The World of the Neo-Hittite Kingdoms: A Political and Military History''. Oxford, New York 2012, p. 94.〕 == Šuḫi I ==
Šuḫi I was the first known ruler from the dynasty named after him. Bearing the title ruler he probably ruled in 10th century BC. No own inscriptions of Šuḫi I have survived, but he ist mentioned in the inscriptions of his successors and in a inscription of a son named Arnu-... who was a priest of the goddess Kubaba. In his inscription on a stele Arnu-..., son of Šuḫi, informs about a military victor of a Carchemishaean king named Ura-Tarḫunza. Ura-Tarḫunza was the last great king of Carchemish probably ruling in the later 11th or early 10th century BC. It may be possible that Šuḫi I was a local ruler under Ura-Tarḫunza's overlordship before accessing the throne of Carchemish. So possibly Arnu-... retrospectively paid homage to the precursor of his father's accession to the throne.〔Trevor Bryce: ''The World of the Neo-Hittite Kingdoms: A Political and Military History''. Oxford, New York 2012, p. 88 ff.〕
